Cooking with Cannabis Rosin

Cooking with Cannabis RosinToday you’ll be learning how-to make Rosin Butter using the NugSmasher OG and then using that rosin butter to make Reese Peanut Butter Puffs Cereal Bars. We used peanut butter puffs but you can use your favorite cereal for the cereal bars.  Today in the kitchen is Riad Byne, CEO of Spartan Wellness.

Using rosin for cannabis cooking actually makes it a little easier.  Since you’ve already extracted the trichomes from the flower, iot can make the THC math easier.  If you know you have 2g of Rosin, then you know your medium is going to contain approx. 2000mg THC.

Rosin is gaining popularity in the cannabis industry as it is a solventless way to extract the trichomes from your cannabis flower.  Rosin is created using heat, time, and pressure.  To extract the rosin you need a rosin press or you can even use a hair straightener.  The rosin press/straightener has heating plates on the top and bottom.  By squishing the flower in between the heating plates you are heating up the trichomes and making them liquidy.  The pressure applied combined with the heat pushes the trichomes off of the flower (think- like a sponge being rung out) and onto the parchment paper.  For this application the flower was squished at 220F for 3 minutes.  There is many different times and temperatures you can play with, we will be showing you more in future videos.

You then scrape the rosin from the paper and do as you wish with it.  You can dab it, you can add some to a joint, and of course, you can cook with it.  Never before has there been an arguably more versatile, efficient, and safer method of achieving a high-grade solventless hash oil than rosin.  Don’t throw away the rosin “chip” that is left over, it still has THC which can be extracted.  Watch our Rosin Chip Honey.

For more info on how to infuse cannabis into different mediums, check out our “Cooking w/ Cannabis 101” series.  If you are interested in becoming a medical cannabis patient, please reach out to Spartan Wellness.
